The Lost Chord
Guitar man took centre stage, He read of policies, page by page. And did his best us to approach, By getting rid of Tory sleaze. He'd ditch Old Labour-style loquacity, In favour of transparency. Whiter than white, this was his aim, And so would not share in Tory blame.
Guitar man took centre stage,
He read of policies, page by page
And did his best us to approach
By getting rid of Tory sleaze.
He'd ditch Old Labour-style loquacity
In favour of transparency
Whiter than white, this was his aim
And so would not share in Tory blame.
Alas, as predicted by generations past
"This Government will never last!"
History tells us of their tales of woe
New Labour will simply have to go!
If only we'd known of his devious streak
When casting our votes during election week
If only we'd known of his yen for war
And that our soldier sons would be home no more.
If only we'd known of his selfish aim
For world-wide power that comes with fame.
If only we'd had our aerial erected
We'd have known that his brain was disconnected.
Oh! What a shambles, Mr Blair!
We now know that you don't care.
You've given way to rights for yobs
And then you've honoured well-heeled snobs
In summary it is true to say
Your "courage" is now on display.
Our troops have fought, some to a bloody end,
You caused the rift we cannot mend.
The anguish felt both far and wide
Cannot be taken in our stride.
But even in this eleventh hour
And stripped of all but parochial power,
You cling to PM's office like a leech
Your 10-year tenure so desperate to reach.
Please, oh please, say farewell be on your way
We might then live another day!
