Unions are greedy
I see it is the time of year again when greedy union leaders such as Simon Green of the T&GWU try to extort unrealistic pay increases from local government employers.
I see it is the time of year again when greedy union leaders such as Simon Green of the T&GWU try to extort unrealistic pay increases from local government employers. They are asking for either a minimum of £1,000 or five per cent, which ever is the greater, for their under-paid members.
I think the union leader needs to open his eyes. There are very many people who earn less than his members. On top of the pay increase, he wants a reduced working week and better holidays for his members.
I think the Government would be mad to give in to outrageous demands that equate to a pay increase for those on £15,825 of 14 per cent. How many people who work in the income generating part of the economy will be receiving a 14 per cent pay increase this year?.
Since the union leader is so concerned his members receive a fair deal, why does he not promote equality with other workers?
His members already receive better holidays and sick pay and very generous final salary pension schemes.
