Town not troubled by congestion
As I travel around the UK, I cannot understand why Shrewsbury is deemed as having a traffic congestion issue - it does not compare to a lot of other towns and cities.

However, Shropshire County Council, supported by the SABC, wants to become one of the pilot areas. And as very few sensible councils have applied it appears we may well get it.
Should not the county council put its own house in order before it imposes this type of stealth tax on those of us who have to work in the town, and the few of us that just about continue to shop within the town?
The Shirehall will be outside of the charge area, the Shirehall Hall car park is one of the only municipal staff car parks in the UK that is free. After all, essential nurses and doctors at the hospital in Shrewsbury are expected to pay for parking at work at the hospital, so why not the pen pushers at Shirehall?
This county is allegedly committed to saving energy and CO2. So why, at a recent meeting in Ludlow, did six representatives from the county council turn up in six cars, when all but one was returning to the Shirehall?
And why do they pay allowances on cars of greater than 1800cc. There should be a pool of Prius cars to reduce the carbon footprint.
