Strain of travelling by train

I refer to the letter from Emma Jones regarding the appalling service by Arriva. I would like to add the following experience regarding Arriva's train service.

My daughter decided to visit us and instead of driving from south London as she usually does, she decided to take the train. She arrived at Welshpool on time and all seemed great until it came to returning to London on the Sunday evening.

The train was so late arriving at Welshpool that the train to London at Birmingham had departed. After a lot of misdirections by staff she and other travellers finally found the right platform for the train to London.

Arriving late in London meant that she missed the connecting trains there too, finally getting home more than two hours later than planned, exceedingly irritated and concerned at travelling late at night.

If the politicians want us to use public transport then they have got a whole lot of improving to do.
