Rethink required on islands
Don't waste money going to the fair, come to Telford, the "city" with the new dodgem islands - all altered, we are told, for the benefit of pedestrians and cyclists. Where are these elusive individuals at these islands?
And, more importantly, why are they not kept away from danger by installing either short subways or lightweight bridges across the carriageways onto the islands, which could be made into open air havens?
Concerning comments regarding lane switching - how does one gyrate and roll out of a "multi-light stage" island without being "lane locked" by nearside traffic joining from the penultimate inlet prior to your exit?
Finally, why is traffic along the Trench Road not allowed to proceed across the island on a road that always appears empty, thereby preventing them being forced into an already overloaded gyratory flow unnecessarily?
These islands are not large enough to integrate the flow load in small "multi- light stages" with insufficient "stack up" space. Preceding 'load flow meters' would certainly assist the situation to a degree, but would not solve the problem totally without a rethink.
