Women motorists clamped?
On October 14 at 8.15am I went to Tweedale sorting office to collect a parcel. When I parked in the loading bay I was told by a man that I would be clamped as there were yellow lines there.
I moved my car onto the road, not on a yellow line. I went straight in and out. I then found out that my car had been clamped.
I asked why, he said I was on a private road. I then asked how we were to collect any goods from the sorting office as buses do not go down this street. He replied: "Take it up with the Post Office."
Surely the Post Office could have an additional sticker on the red card stating that you are unable to park on the road that leads to Tweedale sorting office.
At 8.15am on a weekend you do not carry £80 in cash when you're on your way to work, to pay for the release of your car. So you pay by credit card, which costs another £3, making it £83.
The man who was clamping the cars sat in his car waiting for women drivers. Another car behind me was also clamped. While he went back and sat in his car, car after car went into the loading bay and parked on the yellow lines, but he did not clamp them.
I took a photo of two cars parked on yellow lines while he sat there. I was also told that a lorry driver the day before had had a go at him for just clamping women.
There should have been signs up to say that you could not enter the road. I feel so upset about this, I lost a morning of work waiting for my car to be unclamped.
