Journeys are awful on highways
I have had the misfortune to have to travel from Priorslee to TCAT, in Wellington, via Ketley and then back to St Georges. The journey took just under one hour and was horrendous.
If someone said primary school children were responsible for road planning in Telford, I would not be surprised. How is it that there appears to be an unlimited amount of money available for these schemes?
If the purpose is to slow down traffic, then the planners have failed, because they are in fact stopping the traffic. I am sure that cars in stop-start traffic pollute more than cars travelling at a reasonable, steady pace.
However environmentally friendly you try to be, then this is completely wasted by bad planning.
Surely questions can be asked about the people who are making these planning decisions. What are their qualifications? Are they drivers themselves? How much are we paying them for the pleasure of being held up on the roads? After all, the council taxpayer is paying their wages, and we have a right to get value for money.
With all the housebuilding plans for Telford, I expect the road situation to get worse. I would advise all people who are thinking of moving to Telford to check out the road situation first.
I suggest a vote of no confidence in the highways department.
