Post office move was a mistake
I write regarding the transfer of Shrewsbury post office to WHSmith. I listened to the original arguments, for and against, and having heard various management arguments regarding savings and efficiency, I was convinced - now wrongly it seems - that the move would be in the best interests of everyone.
How wrong I was. How right the protesters were. I paid one of my rare visits to the post office on Wednesday, my first one to its present location. Service was non- existent - I waited exactly half-an-hour in the queue
When I finally arrived at the counter they were unable to provide the service I required. That's not the fault of the staff but the service was appalling. I did make my feelings known to the manager.
His excuse was that they were particularly busy, perhaps I should have come at a quieter time. What will happen, I wonder, when the Christmas rush descends?
