There are jobs out there for all

I am getting a little bit fed up with whingers who say "industry is rife with age discrimination". I left school when I was 15 and joined the Royal Navy, serving for 25 years.

I then started a new job at the Post Office. This was in 1988 when there were over three million people unemployed. I worked for the Post Office for 15 years but then at 55 I was made redundant, as they closed the depot where I was working and moved to Crick.

The next job was as a coach driver transporting yobs to and from school, which I do not recommend.

The firm in question went into receivership so once again I was on the scrap heap. The next job was as a team leader in a food processing plant. Yet again I was made redundant. I then worked at another food processing plant.

I now work at MoD Donnington and have been told my job is being made redundant; I am now 58 and have the self belief that it will be no problem getting another job.

I can assure you there are jobs out there for the over 50s.
