New lights system a waste
I have just experienced the new traffic lights approaching the Wrekin Retail Park. What an absolute waste of money these appear to be. The queue to get to the lights reached as far back as Furrows roundabout, so now a journey that used to take about five minutes to get to Tesco takes double that.
It would not be so bad if the lights were only active when the traffic density called for it, but as I waited for the lights to change to green there were no vehicles coming round the roundabout to impede my progress. What a waste of time.
I also noticed other drivers trying to queue jump by going into the outside lane then forcing themselves back across to get to their exit. Obviously they are getting fed-up with the unnecessary wait these lights are causing.
These so-called experts have also reduced the speed limit to 40mph when the road is easily capable of handling faster speeds and even a local police officer said the reduction in speed was ridiculous.
I hope the council sees sense and tries an experiment of only having the lights on when necessary to give poor motorists a break.
