Rumour is circulating surrender

There is a serious rumour circulating that the Government is contemplating the surrender of Britain's veto in the area of Justice and Home Affairs in just three weeks' time. Time after time New Labour and the Tories have assured us that our justice system is sacrosanct, that our "innocent until proven guilty" was safe and that our trial by jury would not be abandoned.

Yet a few short months ago Tony Blair floated the idea of restricting the right of trial by jury.

It is the European Union way of getting its way. Examine the trillion edicts issued by the EU over the last 30 years and imposing its will on the member states.

In a televised communication from the Home Office last week, Home Secretary John Reid stood between our Union Flag and the EU flag, of 15 gold stars in a circle, implying equality when the reality is 25 countries in a pecking order set in stone.

Britain is at the end of this order.
