Grateful to Edith for nostalgia

It was with some nostalgia that I read the article in Saturday's paper about Edith Corfield. First, may I thank Edith for solving one of life's little mysteries. My father, Bert Bailey, was the milkman in the area for many years. Prior to this he worked as a baker at Challinors. He often used to speak about "Spring" Cha-llinor.

I often wondered if his name was really Spring or, if not, what his real name was.

Mystery now solved.

I agree with Edith. Things where I live now in south Shropshire have remained static for years - that's nice.

I do, however, often return to Minsterley or Pontesbury, and on entering the pubs that are left I don't recognise anyone. It's the same in the village shops.

They are all apparent strangers to me. I often wonder what has happened to all those folks I went to school with and, on reflection, wonder what happened to these little local landmarks.
