Stronger legislation needed
The public and politicians do not seem to be able to accept that criminality is something that has always existed and will continue to do so. Only strong law and a determination to enforce it deters the criminally- minded and protects the honest citizen.
However, it is quite apparent from the increase in violence, vandalism and rapes that the law hasn't the sanctions in place to deal with such offenders and that we have weak government.
When will our rulers, unduly influenced by the liberal-minded, admit that present measures are inadequate? When will they adopt measures strong enough to deter, for example, the types who stab three young girls or innocent people to death, rape an old lady on her way from church, rip up town centre gardens and set fire to property?
Real punishment needs to be reintroduced such as birching and flogging and the death penalty for terrorists who commit traitorous acts. Corporal punishment in schools would also deter a lot of yobbish behaviour.
More long-term solutions can then be taken such as spotting children at risk during primary education.
