Deprived of enjoying attraction

One Friday my friend and I had lunch at a local hostelry at the bottom of The Cop and then proceeded, as we usually do, weather permitting, to walk back along the river, through The Quarry admiring The Dingle on the way to the town centre to shop.

On this day we were stopped as we entered The Quarry and told we could proceed no further. We explained we were just walking through but were told this would cost us £40 each.

Now we have no objections to music festivals but The Quarry is obviously not the place.

Why should Shrewsbury council taxpayers be deprived of their most prized natural environment on a Bank Holiday weekend?
