Shropshire Star

Journey for book by Cowling

My niece who is staying with me over the holidays - and is a student at Charlton School - was reading the Shropshire Star on Bank Holiday Monday when she came to the feature page.

She shouted with glee, "Look. Oh! Auntie, that is the man who spoke to us at our school on Armistice day."

She carried on to tell me this man, Ted Cowling, presented the school with several books called "The Journey" to be retained by the Charlton School library, but when she came to borrow the book, they were all booked out.

And Jacky, the librarian, said she had at least 10 reserved bookings. So she bought the book locally.

She told me "The Journey" is the number one borrowing book at the Charlton School library.

I hope Jacky will see this letter in your paper and will confirm the truth of my niece's comments.
