Shropshire Star

Delightful memories of the past

Good memories help us, and they can be a pleasant surprise, so thank you for the beautiful photo of Barmouth estuary (Shropshire Star, August 14).

I walked up to a youth hostel set amidst peaceful mountains, and we took our little boy to the sands of Fairbourne.

In the "letter of the week" I heard tuneful phrases and lively jazz. Anyone who reminds me of Sydney Bechet playing Summertime on his alto saxophone can be as grumpy as they like!

To be serious about bikes, I was shocked recently to see two boys cycle out of one of our town hall arches. Drivers have more than enough to do without having to contend with such unexpected behaviour. I would like to think these boys will live to cycle Shropshire lands and the mid Wales mountain roads. I hope parents make sure their children know that Bridgnorth's High Street is one-way.
