Police are playing it safe
Hear, hear. Well said, Hanna S. It's a dismal situation when the police don't know their own community and the local press abets such ignorance. The Telford courts may not be an official leisure venue, but it's safe and the youths who gather there are basically a decent bunch.
They also incline towards physical activity which is all to the good. Compare that with the skate park recently built at no small expense in Stirchley. It rapidly became a hotspot for loiterers intent on under-age drinking and drug abuse.
The bad language was off putting enough, but only last weekend the kiddies' play equipment was unusable because there was vomit everywhere.
Funny how the police are not so eager to address those issues, but then, I suppose that like the teenagers who gather at the courts, they'd rather be somewhere safer. The authorities should be facilitating rather than vilifying the group in question.
