Shropshire Star

Charlton Arms, Ludlow

The Bosi family are back in town. Ludlow town, that is. They've taken over a top pub and have quickly turned it into a must-visit destination.

Rewind to the start of the new Millennium. Ludlow was the nuts, the non pareil, le magnifique. The small south Shropshire town was Britain's über-destination for gastronomes.

Some of those who created Ludlow's standing as the gourmet capital of rural Britain have long since left. Claude Bosi, Shaun Hill, Will Holland and Ken Adams have all moved to different parishes.

. Thankfully, the tide is turning and Ludlow's star is ascending once more.

The Bosis are back, having acquired The Charlton Arms, a pub with the best location in town. It sits on the banks of the River Teme. The Charlton provides sumptuous views of the town centre as well, with St Laurence's Church as its impressive centrepiece.

The family moved in just over a month ago. They have a formidable reputation in the county, having formerly run Shropshire's most successful restaurant of all time. Claude and Claire Bosi were behind Hibiscus, in Corve Street, which earned two Michelin stars before relocating to London's Mayfair.
