The show has a proven track record with audiences and it was no different in the county with more than 1,200 tickets already sold for three performances at the Theatre Severn, in Frankwell Quay.

Two more shows will be performed today with tickets available for the 5pm and 8pm performances.

A spokesman for Theatre Severn said they were thrilled by the response from Shropshire's theatre-lovers. He said: "The Chinese State Circus has been to the theatre before in late January 2011 and they are always popular.

"We try to have circus acts as a part of our programme every year and last year we had the Moscow State Circus with the Chinese State Circus here two years ago.

"They do seem to be greatly appreciated by Shropshire audiences."

The Chinese State Circus has returned to the UK with a spectacular two-hour extravaganza with more than 20 Chinese artistes performing incredible acrobatics, martial arts and live music.

Feature acts include a remarkable display of drum juggling, the dynamic hoop divers and two Shaolin monks whose expertise is breathtaking.
