Mr Darwin's Tree is written by noted playwright and director Murray Watts, and stars leading British film, TV and theatre actor Andrew Harrison.

It presents a thought-provoking and moving view of Shrewsbury’s most famous son, who was a former pupil at Shrewsbury School and the complexities of his relationships with his family, charting his life from his voyage in the Beagle to the world-shattering publication of the Origin of Species – a quest through humour, chronic illness, hesitation and brilliant discovery.

Murray Watts, describes it as “an exploration of a great emotional, psychological and spiritual crisis. It’s about a personal journey of struggle, doubt and the courage to explore”.

Mr Darwin’s Tree was originally written during the bicentenary year of Charles Darwin’s birth and was premièred in Westminster Abbey. It has since been performed at the Edinburgh Festival, at theatres across the UK and on tour in the USA.

Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance via www.ticketsource.co.uk/shrewsburyschool. The performance starts at 7.30pm and will be held in the school's Ashton Theatre.
