Horse instructor to join Hollywood movie cast
An equine instructor who taught the cast of a new television series how to ride is to appear in a Hollywood movie.
Claire Jones, a member of the Equine Science and Welfare Management degree team at Wrexham Glyndwr University, is about to start shooting the second series of popular Netflix show, Free Rein.
The 29 year-old, from Shropshire, is also preparing to make her film debut in a live action blockbuster later this year.
She is keeping the details under wraps, but manages to balance these high-profile roles while lecturing on the new-look equine course at the University's Northop campus.
“I'm certainly busy, particularly as the new series of Free Rein is about to begin filming again this summer,” said Claire.
“It's a great course that I am involved with at the university and I’m proud to be part of it. I would encourage anyone considering a degree in Equine Science to get in touch and join this September.”
As a McTimoney Corley Practitioner with her own company, Equine Outline, Claire helps to teach students about how to care for the animals, as well as their general health and wellbeing, physically and mentally.
Riding and managing them is another facet of the degree, which includes free tuition from the British Horse Society, work experience, and a contribution towards a relevant vocational exam of the student's choice.
Her years of expertise led to Claire joining Free Rein, a teen drama about an American teenager who spends the summer at her mother's childhood home off the coast of England and bonds with a mysterious horse.
She enjoys working behind the scenes, and says the actors have certainly kept her busy.
"It's been great to be a part of, though not one of them knew how to ride so it was a real challenge,” said Claire.
