Four firms shortlisted to be named the best at Shropshire Business Awards
The four companies that will battle it out to be named top firm at the annual "Shropshire business Oscars" are revealed today.
Whitchurch logistics firm Grocontinental, Telford manufacturers Busch UK and Elite Precast Concrete, and Shrewsbury-based care provider Coverage Care are the nominees in the Company of the Year.
A record 166 nominations were received for the annual ceremony at Telford's International Centre, which takes place on June 14 and will see Paralympian Tanni Grey-Thompson as guest speake ron the night.
Elite Precast Concrete is the only finalist in the Company of the Year category with hopes elsewhere on the night.
It has also been shortlisted in the Technology, Enterprise and Innovation Award.
The firm will be up against Telford's Prime Design Projects and airport ramp maker Ra'alloy, plus Phoenix AV Solutions from Weston Under Redcastle.
Richard Sheehan, managing director of organiser Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "Once again the volume and quality of the entries has surpassed all our expectations.
"It's clear from the standard of entries we have received that many companies have gone to a great deal of time and effort to ensure they are best placed to be shortlisted for one of these prestigious awards."
Elsewhere, the Ironbridge Catering Company will battle software firm Bronze Labs, Petstop pet shop, and Ra'alloy in an entirely Telford-based field in the Best New Business Award.
The reintroduced Best Small Business category will see Shrewsbury meals company UK Food Hall, Bridgnorth firm FL Hitchman, Craven Arms printer EPS and Wem's Tern Consultancy battling for the crown.
Mr Sheehan added: "The shortlisting panel has reported the significant difficulties that it faced when trying to select the four shortlisted companies as the quality of submission really did make it difficult."
The event is among the biggest in the region.
