Shropshire Star

Search for Star bloggers to end

Think you've got what it takes to be a news or sports reporter? The Shropshire Star is looking for "bloggers" to follow the fortunes of our two leading football teams, Shrewsbury Town and AFC Telford United, as well as a teenager keen to give their point of view on all the big news stories. But hurry. The closing date is Friday.

Chris Leggett, who heads up the team, said: "It will be your chance to speak to an online audience of around 100,000 unique users each month — a figure which is bound to soar as we launch a whole raft of new features.

"Are you a teen fed up with not being given a platform to prove not all today's youth are criminals or stupid? "

Or are you a fan of Shrewsbury Town or AFC Telford United who wants to have a regular say on your team's fortunes?

"Now we've got somewhere for you to publish your views. The Shropshire Star is looking for three readers to write web logs or 'blogs' for our website as we get ready to launch a full site redesign."

The Star's national news editor Dave Burrows already writes his own blog on the site, but the section is being expanded to include a teenager's view on the news, the world and life in general.

Plus we want a Shrewsbury Town and an AFC Telford United fan to give their views on the ins and outs, ups and downs at their clubs.

So, what sort of people are we looking for? Chris explained: "Our teenage blogger will be aged 16-18, lively and opinionated and have a keen interest in the news, from local issues to national and international happenings.

"Living in the Shropshire Star circulation area, you'll be submitting on average two blogs of up to 200 words each week. "Sometimes it will be on a topic which we will suggest but at other times you'll be free to share your opinions on whatever you like.

"Likewise, we are looking for bloggers for the Shrews and the Bucks, who follow all the team action and news and want to share the fans' point of view.

"You'll be submitting your blogs after the matches and whenever there's transfer news — or just speculation. In all three cases, you will need to write clear, balanced and opinionated articles." Interested? Then tell us, in no more than 200 words, why you're the perfect person for the job.
