Celebrating the life of Dame Agnes Hunt
On Friday, November 14, the Oswestry & Border History & Archaeology Group (OBHAG) will welcome Alison Utting, local author and actor, who will perform her dramatic monologue ‘Aggie’ telling the story of Dame Agnes Hunt, co-founder with Robert Jones of the Orthopaedic Hospital and the founder of Derwen College in Gobowen.

OBHAG chair John Pryce-Jones commented “Dame Agnes Hunt is an inspirational figure in the history of Oswestry and district – her impact stretching far beyond our local area. Alison’s portrayal of Dame Agnes has been described as mesmeric; it is a performance not to be missed”.
The event will take place at the Methodist Church Hall, Castle Street, Oswestry, starting at 7.30 p.m. New members and visitors are always very welcome at OBHAG’s monthly talks; there is a small entry fee of £2 for OBHAG members, or £5 for visitors.
Full details of OBHAG’s activities including its monthly talks and lectures, and summer walks and visits are available on the group’s website at obhag.org.uk.
