Oswestry see their winning run end at Tenbury

Oswestry failed to add to a pair of recent wins after falling to a 19-12 defeat at Tenbury in Counties 2 Midlands West (West).

The visitors initially started well but it was Tenbury who drew first blood to notch the first try of the game.

Oswestry responded quickly with Cameron Breen embarking on a mesmerising solo run before levelling the score.

Breen was invariably at the heart of the action and bagged his second try shortly after to give Oswestry the lead.

Iwan Ellis was successful from the conversion to provide Oswestry with a seven point cushion before the break.

However, Tenbury got themselves back into the contest in the second half after capitalising on an error to score a try, before scoring the conversion to get back on level terms.

Both teams pushed for a winner, and it looked as if Oswestry were the most likely to find one, until Tenbury took the lead against the run of play.

Tenbury remain in 10th place but closed the gap behind Oswestry in ninth to just two points.

Newport seconds marched on at the top of the table after making it a perfect seven wins from seven outings.

Clee Hill were the latest side to be swept aside s Newport secured a 48-20 success.

Newport are now seven points clear of Bromyard with Clee Hill a further two pints behind in third.

Bridgnorth Bulls were edged out on the road at Stourbridge seconds as they went down 29-25.
