Carl Ikeme could miss Wolves' five remaining games as a troublesome hamstring problem threatens to end his season early.

The goalkeeper has been sidelined for almost a month after picking up the injury while away on international duty with Nigeria.

It was hoped he would only be out for a couple of weeks, but the injury is taking longer than expected to heal and Wolves may now have to do without him for what remains of their Championship campaign.

Andy Lonergan has deputised for Wolves' past four games, conceding six goals and keeping one clean sheet against Nottingham Forest.

Losing Ikeme is another injury blow as Paul Lambert looks to get over the safety line as soon as possible.

After two successive defeats, Wolves know a third loss at Leeds today could potentially see them pulled to within five points of the drop zone ahead of hosting struggling Blackburn Rovers at Molineux on Saturday.

Lambert said of Ikeme's fitness: "He'll definitely be out at Leeds. I'm not sure if he'll be back this season, it's not one where I'm thinking 'he's going to make it'. I'm not sure."

The news is brighter for £13million record signing Helder Costa, who is in contention to play at Elland Road today.

Lambert hinted at changes and added: "The game comes on to you pretty quickly, we'll look at Helder and see how he progresses through and one or two lads who haven't been starting might get a go as well."

Meanwhile, Wolves have been linked with a move for Derby County striker Chris Martin, who they came close to signing last summer.

The 28-year-old Scottish international has spent this season on loan at Fulham, scoring 10 goals in 30 Championship appearances.

Wolves had a £6.5million bid knocked back by the Rams before the start of the season.

The Cottagers paid a seven-figure loan fee to take him for the season, while also covering his £30,000 weekly wages.

n Jamie O'Hara's fall from grace continued when the former Wolves midfielder was involved in an ugly spat with a fan in the aftermath of a defeat in the Ryman Premier League.

The 30-year-old, who now plays for Billericay in the seventh tier of English football, appeared to lashout at a youthful-looking fan as he walked off the Leatherhead pitch to chants of 'what a waste of money'.

Molineux flop O'Hara had to be restrained by his team-mates.
