Kenny Jackett: This is your chance

"It's a big opportunity and a big chance."

Kenny Jackett has laid down the gauntlet to his players as he looks for them to seize the initiative and claim starting berths in his XI, with so many currently absent through injury.

With James Henry sidelined for three weeks, there'll be a vacant spot on the left wing for someone to fill on Saturday.

Jackett said: "We have to find some strengths and capitalise on them quickly.

"In the forward positions finding some consistency is something we need to do."

It is in defence where Wolves have struggled most of all this season, particularly at home where only two sides have conceded more and nine have been shipped in the past four Molineux matches.

Away from home Wolves' defensive record fares better, with 19 conceded in 15 games.

Why the disparity between the two?

"It's slightly frustrating," Jackett said. "The results at home have been frustrating, and the last two performances as well against Preston and Bolton.

"Nine goals in four games doesn't give you much of a chance of earning any points.

"It's been slightly different away from home, we've been slightly more diligent and a bit tighter.

"We certainly hope that continues up at Huddersfield and then on Tuesday against Brentford.

"If we're looking at our home games the goals against column has been too high and the nature of the goals hasn't been great.

"You could put down the Cardiff goals as very good goals, but generally we've been disappointed with what we've done and want to reduce that.

"Gelling as a side, making sure we put on entertaining, winning performances and moving up from 12th in the league is what we want." Ethan Ebanks-Landell has been a constant at centre half of late.

And Jackett feels the game time, which has seen him picked for 14 consecutive matches, can only be doing the young defender good.

"For Ethan to get that run is very good for him and you can see him progressing," he said.

"We want to make sure we encourage him all we can to keep moving in the right direction."

In the absence of top scorer Henry, Jackett knows he needs goals from his forwards, and he has backed Joe Mason to continue to make an impact after the striker scored his second Wolves goal on Saturday.

"Mason got in three or four times very well against a defence it was tough to get in behind," he said.

"He showed good composure and a good selection of finish which does promise well for the future.

"Mason getting two is very good, and something we have to keep working on and capitalising on.

"It's early days but we feel he can finish, and providing those chances is a big thing."
