Kenny Jackett: Show the world how good we are

Kenny Jackett has challenged Wolves to become stars of the small screen – starting with Sunday's trip to Derby.

The game at the IPro Stadium is the first of six for Jackett's side which will be shown live by Sky Sports between now and New Year's Day.

And the head coach reckons it is the ideal chance for his players to show the nation what they are about.

"There are a high number of TV games coming up I see it as an opportunity for us to do well and show people how good we are," he said.

"I would prefer to be in the TV games than not. I prefer to have some focus on it and a lot of attention because it means we are doing something right and obviously people are interested in what the club are doing.

"It is good to have so many TV games coming up before the turn of the year.

"It is terrific and up to us that we take those opportunities and do well. I am sure we are capable of doing that."

Wolves, who have been screened live three times already this season, are back on TV on October 31 when they visit Birmingham City in an early kick-off.

December then brings a slew of televised games with fixtures against Forest, Leeds and Reading – the latter on Boxing Day, before a New Year's Day trip to Brighton.

While Jackett accepts the constant shifting of fixtures makes life tough for fans, he reckons the TV companies interest in the team is validation they are heading in the right direction.

"People plan their weekends, their work commitments, their family commitments around their football," he said. "We appreciate all of the fans and all of the supporters commitment. We are very happy with the backing the fans give us.

"The TV companies put a lot of money into football and we have to see it as an opportunity to maybe get more fans and show the whole football world what a good side we are. We have to see it as an opportunity."
