Conor Coady predicted to be fans' favourite

New Wolves midfielder Conor Coady will become a fans' favourite at the club, assistant boss Joe Gallen has predicted.

Coady, a £2million signing from Huddersfield, has impressed during pre-season with some tenacious midfield displays.

The tough-tackling 22-year-old looks set to play a key role in Wolves' season, with head coach Kenny Jackett lining him up to form an integral midfield partnership alongside Kevin McDonald.

He was arguably Wolves' man of the match against Aston Villa last week and followed that up with another all-action first half at Doncaster on Saturday.

And Gallen said the Wolves fans would quickly warm to Coady.

"He's got a very good attitude," Gallen said. "He's a ball-winner but his passing range and the perception behind his passing is very good.

"He can do a bit of everything really and, personally, I think he's going to become a bit of a fans' favourite."

Coady is preparing for his second season at Championship level after impressing for Huddersfield last season.

He missed just one league game, was named as the Terriers' young player of the season and scored a 30-yard screamer at Molineux for good measure, in Huddersfield's 3-1 victory.

And Gallen said the midfielder had many strings to his bow, as well as tackling.

"I think the fans like it when there's a tackle, at every club I've been to they go berserk if there's a tackle," he said.

"I think he can do that. But he can play as well. He brings a lot to the game.

"That's not to say that Jack Price is not going to play because, as we know, Jack Price has always played well for Wolves and fits in nicely.

"There's a nice bit of competition going on so provided we have a good number of players on the bench, they're putting the ones who have got the nod under pressure."

Merseyside-born Coady joined Liverpool's academy aged 12, but left the Reds after making just two senior appearances.

Huddersfield snapped him up for around £400,000 last summer after Coady had starred for Sheffield United during a loan spell in League One in
