Wolves take a look at teen ace Aaron Simpson

Wolves are hoping to extend the trial of Maidstone United defender Aaron Simpson as they look to unearth another gem.

The 18-year-old right-back has been on trial at Molineux this week and the club are looking to see if they can play him in an Under-21 game to make a full assessment on the prospect.

Simpson is in the modern mould of attacking full-backs and has helped the Kent-based outfit to the top of the Ryman Premier League this season.

The talented teenager also played his part as Maidstone reached the second round of the FA Cup, only to be sent off in a 3-1 defeat at Wrexham.

But he has impressed Wolves and Under-21s coach Scott Sellars wants to have a further look to see if he can follow in the footsteps of Jordan Graham, Jordi Ortega, George Swan, Connor Hunte, Eusebio Bancessi, Albert Torras and Carlo Erdei to be recruited for the development squad from other clubs.

"He's good athletically, he's got good feet and he's good in possession and socially as a kid he looks to be a good, hardworking player as well," said Sellars.

"First impressions have been favourable from everybody and we'll have a chat to see what we do next because it would be good to see him in a game if we can. His club have been very kind to let him come and train with us.

"He's trained a little bit with the Under-18s, he trained with me on Thursday and at the end of the week we'll decide what the next course of action is. Our scouts have seen him play in the first team at Maidstone and the next step is to have a look at him to provide a good assessment."
