Wolves may need 100 points for promotion
Wolves have been told they will have to bag close to 100 points to clinch automatic promotion from League One.
The Molineux men head for the division's game of the season at Griffin Park tomorrow where they will try to topple 19-games unbeaten leaders Brentford.
The home side's incredible form has included 16 victories and made light of the December managerial switch which saw Uwe Rosler head for Wigan and replaced by Mark Warburton. But the relentless hoovering up of points by The Bees and Leyton Orient has left Wolves dealing with the most competitive League One promotion challenge since the third tier's re-constitution more than 20 years ago.
And head coach Kenny Jackett believes it is a pace they will have to maintain all the way to the finishing line.
"It just shows you how competitive it is – 64 points from the first 30 games and we're not in the top two," said Jackett. "And that pace isn't going to stop.
"I haven't got a target in mind but through the season it has been apparent that to finish in the top two we're going to need to be in the high-90s at least."
