Kenny Jackett keeps faith in Wolves side for FA Cup

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett today dropped a strong hint at giving his Carlisle flops the chance to redeem themselves in the FA Cup at Oldham tomorrow.

The Molineux head coach was angry at the alarming second-half fadeout on Tuesday which allowed the Cumbrians to earn a deserved 2-2 draw after they trailed at the break.

The only possible changes expected are the return of right-back Matt Doherty after his hamstring injury and a first start of the season for Jamie O'Hara in midfield.

But with the likelihood of no game after tomorrow until the visit of Brentford on November 23, Jackett wants to see how the majority of the same players respond to his stinging criticism.

"I'm not going to do anything different in terms of team selection," he said. "That side needs to be looking to bounce back at Oldham from a poor second-half performance on Tuesday.

"I'm looking at it as I would a league game – if we need fresh energy, it will be because of that rather than anyone on the fringes.

"Generally, when I've changed things in the cups, the side's looked disjointed so we'll try to keep things as consistently as we can."

Jackett held a meeting with the players yesterday about the disappointment at Carlisle.

"I'll always listen to what players have to say and lots of things were covered but I'm not using that as an excuse," he said.

"But I'm the head coach and I set the lead. Mainly, I look for players' reaction the next time we play."

Lee Evans is likely to have the chance to get over his mistake conceding the penalty for Carlisle's equaliser.

"He can make mistakes but he does lots of very good things," said Jackett.

"Since Tuesday, the phrase 'don't give silly penalties away' has been mentioned a few times.

If tomorrow's tie is drawn, the replay will be at Molineux a week on Tuesday.
