Wolves sign up defender Scott Golbourne from Barnsley
Kenny Jackett welcomed attacking full-back Scott Golbourne as the third recruit of his Molineux regime today.
Wolves agreed a deal in the region of £700,000 with Barnsley for the 25-year-old former England age-group player, who head coach Jackett believes can fully realise his potential on the biggest stage of his career so far.
Golbourne arrives with a reputation as a left-sided specialist with a reputation for attacking play – but Jackett insists the Bristol-born player's arrival does not mean the club are preparing to sell Bakary Sako.
His name is back at the centre of speculation today following a renewed approach from Nottingham Forest – but the figures being discussed are so short of Wolves' valuation Molineux is refusing to take the offer seriously.
Instead, Jackett says Golbourne has been a long-standing target who he thought would not be available until Wednesday night saw the deal revived "out of nowhere."
And he is delighted at the capture saying: "He's a good age, got a good record of games and is coming out of a very good season last year as an attacking full-back, although he is currently playing as a wing-back.
"I've watched him and been aware of him since his days at Bristol City and on to Reading. He's shown good improvement and had an excellent season at Championship level last year."
