Kevin Doyle and Bjorn Sigurdarson both to miss tonights friendly at Wrexham

Wolves strikers Bjorn Sigurdarson and Kevin Doyle will miss tonight's friendly at Wrexham as Kenny Jackett today revealed his team for the League One curtain-raiser at Preston will take shape from now.

Sigurdarson is out with a hamstring injury that prompted his half-time substitution in Saturday's 2-1 win at Livingston, while Doyle is still troubled by the groin problem which forced him to miss the Scotland tour. "The only one from the trip who won't play tonight is Sigurdarson," said head coach Jackett.

"He felt the top of his hamstring after coming off but he should be OK by the end of the week and Kevin Doyle is similar."

Jackett has been assessing his squad for three weeks and used 22 players in both friendlies on their tour of Scotland.

But from this evening's trip to the Racecourse Ground onwards, Jackett's line-up will begin to become much clearer.

"We'll just take 18 players but I'll make changes and I want to get everyone playing," said Jackett, who is expected to allow keeper Wayne Hennessey his comeback.

"But it will be more like a league game from now on in that there will be seven subs.

"I'm sure people will be able to read a bit more into my thinking."

Jackett believes tonight's friendly will be a dress rehearsal for League One.

"It will be a very similar test to what we're expecting because it will be a big game for them – it will be a case of 'Wolves are coming down, they used to be in the Premier League'," he said.

"That's going to be the same story in every matchday programme."

Jackett added: "It's always a very good pitch there. It will be a step-up from the Scotland games and these next three now, if you put in Chesterfield, will be good tests over the next eight to nine days. The game against Real Betis will be different but these other friendlies will be very similar to our league matches."

Wrexham were beaten Conference play-off finalists and won the FA Trophy last season and Jackett is expecting a tough game.

"Wrexham are coming off the back of a successful season," he said.

"Andy Morrell was always scoring goals, he's been a fantastic servant for many clubs and he's always scored.

"He's coming off the bench at the moment and still scoring.

"They're a young side that play the right way."
