Kenny Jackett calls Wolves fans to club museum
New Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett today mounted a charm offensive to the club's most loyal fans – by inviting supporters on a tour of the club's museum.
In what is believed to be a first for a Wolves boss, he has communicated directly with the 9,036 season ticket holders via email to join him on a tour of the museum in the Stan Cullis Stand next week.
The 51-year-old is keen to learn about the club's rich history and said: "I'm eager to learn all about Wolves and what it means to you.
"I would like to invite a group of you to come to Molineux and take me around the Wolves Museum and introduce me to Wolves and your fantastic history.
"If you would like to come along on June 12 at 1pm, e-mail fans@wolves.co.uk with your name and contact details before 5pm on Friday June 7.
"We will be in touch with those of you that we'll be inviting along."
Jackett added: "I know it has been a very difficult couple of years for all connected with Wolves, in particular you the supporters.
"It's now up to myself, the staff and the players to bring about a far more positive and successful atmosphere this season.
"I arrived at a club which has suffered consecutive relegations, and then discovered, despite that, over 9,000 supporters had already renewed their season tickets.
"That tells me straightaway that there is a really loyal fan-base here who stick with Wolves through the good times and the bad.
"I will now be working as hard as I possibly can to repay that level of support and making sure we can all start to feel a sense of pride in saying we are connected with Wolverhampton Wanderers."
Meanwhile, Jackett's first game in charge of Wolves will be in Scotland against Livingston after the club today announced plans for a week-long training camp north of the border.
Final details of the trip have yet to be confirmed but Wolves will travel in the second week of July.
They will play the Scottish First Division side at the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium on Saturday July 13, kicking off at 2pm.
The ground has a 10,000 all-seater capacity and the game is set to pitch Wolves striker Leigh Griffiths into familiar surroundings, as he was Livingston's top scorer in 2009.
The Molineux squad return for pre-season training on Monday, June 24, and the friendly with Livingston is the first currently scheduled for pre-season, of which there are now five in total.
Jackett's first game at Molineux will be the visit of Real Betis on July 27, when Wolves have their only home pre-season friendly.
The Sevilla-based side, who finished seventh in La Liga, will be at Molineux a week before the League One season kicks off on August 3.
Betis are on a three-match English tour and meet Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium on July 24 and also face Bolton.
The visit of Spanish opposition continues a trend for Wolves after a friendly against Real Vallodolid two years ago.
Wolves also go to Blue Square Bet Premier side Wrexham on Tuesday July 16, Championship outfit Barnsley on Saturday July 20, and Paul Cook's League Two side Chesterfield on Tuesday July 23.
Former Molineux favourite Cook, who made more than 200 appearances for the club between 1989-94, will be in opposition to Wolves for the first time as a manager after being appointed last October.
