The 22-year-old striker saw his parent club duly take up the one-year option on his contract last week following a sensational season in the SPL.

Griffiths is preparing for Sunday's Scottish Cup Final against Celtic after scoring 28 goals in his second loan spell with Hibs.

He will then collect the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year award having already landed the Scottish Premier League award.

Griffiths yesterday made it clear he would prefer to stay there but chief executive Jez Moxey said: "Leigh is coming back to us this summer, I can assure you of that. These issues have been discussed."

Griffiths admitted: "League One will hard to get out of and Wolves will be a big scalp there but hopefully we can go straight back up."

The striker was today included in the Scotland squad for next month's World Cup qualifier against Croatia. There was no place for West Brom's Graham?Dorrans or Aston Villa's Barry Bannan.
