Karl Henry today wished new Roger Johnson all the best with the Wolves captaincy as the new skipper insisted they were big shoes to fill.
Former Birmingham defender Johnson will lead the team out for the first time in tomorrow's final friendly against Real Zaragoza at Molineux after taking the armband from Henry earlier this week.
"I would like to wish Roger all the best as he takes on the captaincy, and, from my point of view, I'm concentrating on my game and having a good season for Wolves," said Henry.
"I was extremely proud to have been captain of Wolves for the last three years.
"During that time we lifted the Championship title and retained Premier League status for the following two seasons."
Johnson said the pair had spoken about the change and he insisted he had to earn the respect of the players as a newcomer.
"In the three seasons Karl has had the captaincy, the club has won promotion and stayed in the Premier League for the last two years, so they are big shoes to fill and he's a popular character," he said.
"Hopefully I can do a good job and earn the respect of the boys. We've had a chat but I'll keep that in-house."
The pair squared up in the heat of the battle at St Andrew's in April but Johnson said that was all in the past now.
"There's certainly no beef there between myself and Karl," he said.
"I like him and I'm sure we'll become friends."
