Ryan Brobbel’s early goal was enough to give Saints a 1-0 victory at Bala Town in Limbrick’s first match in charge of Saints on Saturday.

That result, combined with Connah’s Quay Nomads losing at home to Penybont earlier in the day, saw Saints replace Nomads at the top of the table on goal difference.

Limbrick said: “We’re definitely happy going back to the top of the table, there’s no doubt about that. That’s where we want to be.

“But we really are focusing on ourselves.

“There was a lot of talk before the game of that result, but we just knew that we had to get the job done and we did that, and we’ll be concentrating on ourselves moving forward.”

Saints have nine games to play between now and the end of the season on May 15 during a busy schedule of matches as they look to hold on to top spot.

“They are quick,” said former Woking boss and Grimsby Town assistant Limbrick.

“It’s Saturday-Tuesday all the way through virtually until the last week until we finish on May 15, so they will be coming quick.

“But we’re looking forward to them – we’re on a good run at the moment.”

The weekend was a landmark one for the Oswestry outfit as they leapfrogged champions Connah’s Quay and returned to the summit.

The Saints are aiming to reclaim their crown having lost out to their Flintshire rivals last term, when former boss Scott Ruscoe’s side were edged out after the season was sorted on a points-per-game formula.

Brobbel, Saturday’s match-winner at Bala, felt it was a hard-earned three points as Saints made it four league wins in a row.

“It didn’t come easy, but I thought the lads were excellent from start to finish really,” said Brobbel. “It was a bit of a battle game, what we expected, but nonetheless we got the points.”
