Dooley was announced as the club’s new chief executive earlier this week, joining Town from Sheffield Wednesday where he had worked for more than four years.

The role of CEO at Shrews has been vacant since May this year after Brian Caldwell left.

The Scotsman was praised by fans for the way he communicated during his stint in Shropshire, something the club has struggled to maintain in his absence.

But Dooley intends to improve that after his appointment in a move that can only be a positive one, according to Groves.

“It is reverting to the structure that we had,” said Groves. “I think we probably needed someone in the CEO role so on that basis it is a good appointment.

“I had a very quick chat with Liam yesterday, he comes across as a very positive and very knowledgeable guy.
