Matt Taylor: We can't drop Shrewsbury levels

Shrewsbury Town dropped below the levels they have set for themselves so far this season during their defeat to Stevenage, according to Matt Taylor.

The Town boss’ side won their opening game against Cheltenham and put in a spirited and promising display against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

And after a tough week of travelling and fixtures, they could not find the levels they had found previously when they played against Steve Evans’ side on Saturday.

“The players have set the standards,” Taylor said. “That is what is really important and therefore on Saturday what that showed is that when you are not at the level you need to be at you will not win games.

“We did not play passes that we have previously played.

“We are not asking to go through the opposition, they are passes that we have played before.

“I think that is what is important, we are not asking players to do anything they have not already done before.
