Tymon, 21, has made 17 appearances for Stoke's first team this season, including in a defensive midfield role but is is believed he will spend the second half of the season at League One Town, with the switch to be rubber-stamped today.

Other clubs are also tracking Tymon and thought to be rivalling Shrews' interest. Though Stoke are understood to be keen on Tymon joining Town, managed by former City boss Steve Cotterill.

The former Hull youngster is well thought of by Potters boss Michael O'Neill but it was yesterday revealed the defender could be loaned out for regular games to aid his development.

Town missed out on a left wing-back in Brendan Galloway last week but quickly made a move to bring in defensive-minded left-sider Nathanael Ogbeta, 19, from Manchester City.

But Tymon, capped at every England age group between under-17 and under-20s, appears to be the attacking left wing-back selected to directly replace Charlie Daniels, who left at the end of his contract earlier this month and joined Portsmouth.

Hull-born Tymon made his professional debut for the Tigers in January 2016 and impressed enough to seal a permanent transfer to the Potteries in 2017 after turning down a new Tigers deal.

He featured against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup at the beginning of 2019.

The left-sided player continues the theme of eye-catching additions at Montgomery Waters Meadow after Matthew Pennington and Harry Chapman on loan, as well as the permanent capture of David Davis.

Town are also hunting a striker before next Monday's deadline and a loan move for Sunderland hitman Will Grigg is thought to be progressing.
