The Sky Blues’ clash with Town tomorrow looked to be the final occasion Mark Robins’ men would play at the Ricoh Arena.

But talks are now under way between City and rugby side Wasps regarding an extension.

Ricketts, who ended his playing career at the Ricoh in 2016, believes the security in which Town operate is under-rated due to being seen as ‘boring’.

“I don’t think it worries them,” Ricketts said of the off-field plight affecting players and management. “It’s been going on that long it actually becomes normal, if that makes sense.

“It won’t affect the players, there’s no issue with being paid. What they’re trying to do is get themselves a ground that gives a good foundation to be successful on the pitch.

“What they’re striving for is what we’ve got – solidity off the pitch, we have our ground and training ground, we own everything.

“That sounds boring because it’s so good, nobody writes about it but when you see teams like Coventry and Bolton it shines light on how well this club is.”

He added: “They’ll be watching results today. It’ll be hard for them to make the play-offs.

“Generally they’ve had a really good season. When we beat them (in December) they’d been winless for seven or eight games.”
