Wolves boss Nuno needs to adopt the note method! – Jokes Shrewsbury Town man Ollie Norburn
Ollie Norburn has joked Nuno Espirito Santo might want to take a leaf out of Sam Ricketts' notebook as the Shrewsbury boss's scribbling led to FA Cup joy.
Town went 2-0 up through Luke Waterfall against Wolves in Saturday's fourth round tie from a corner taken by Norburn after the midfielder had been handed a hand-written note from the manager.
It was passed to Norburn by Anthony Grant after Ricketts had used first-team coach Eric Ramsay's stationary.
Ricketts admitted the contents, a change in tactical shape, had no bearing on the goal – but Norburn's note whipped up a storm on social media.
Norburn joked that he found it difficult to read Ricketts' handwriting, but reckons the ploy worked so well it should be adopted by Premier League Wolves.
"It was bad writing from the gaffer so I didn't even understand it to be honest! He needs to sort his handwriting out!" Norburn smiled.
"I've seen it all over Instagram and all over Twitter and I've had a lot of text messages asking what was on it.
"Afterwards there were a lot of disappointed players in the changing room and rightly so, we should have seen the game out.
"It's at the back of our mind now, we've got a massive game on Tuesday at Bradford.
"The fans get behind them and it's a hard place to go.
"Maybe the Wolves manager might copy our gaffer and start doing notes during the game!"
The clash ended 2-2 as Wolves staged a late comeback to force a Molineux replay to be played next week.
