Shrewsbury Town's Sam Jones closes in on a move to Dundee
Shrewsbury Town midfielder Sam Jones is closing in on a permanent move to Dundee.
The 26-year-old, who joined on January deadline day from Grimsby Town when signed by former boss Paul Hurst, has barely featured under new Salop chief John Askey.
The Shropshire Star understands from sources in Scotland that a nominal five-figure fee has been agreed with the Scottish Premiership club and the move for Jones, who has worked his way up through non-league, is being finalised.
Jones made just three starts for Town, and five appearances in total. He scored once, in the 1-1 draw at Blackpool in April.
He was tied up at Montgomery Waters Meadow until the summer of 2020, after not being involved under Askey, could see his eight month spell in Shropshire end prematurely.
Scottish clubs are eligible to sign players until August 31.
