Shrewsbury Town will open an extra stand for their Checkatrade Trophy semi-final clash with Yeovil later this month.

The competition has its detractors with fans conducting a nationwide boycott of the competition due to Premier League clubs being allowed to enter under-21 teams.

Up to now, Town have only opened the Roland Wycherley Stand for home supporters and the Pro Vision CCTV Stand for away fans. But for the last-four tie with the Glovers, Town will open the Salop Leisure Stand, behind the opposite goal.

The competition, formerly known as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and Auto Windscreens Shields Trophy among other titles, has struggled for attendances this season, with fewer than 2,000 and 1,400 at the previous two Town games.

Tickets for the February 27 clash, which could see Paul Hurst’s men clinch a Wembley date with Lincoln City, are on sale at £5 for adults and £1 for concessions.

Town midfield schemer Jon Nolan has been nominated for player of the round for the 2-1 victory against Oldham in the last eight. A smart back-heel created Alex Rodman’s late winner for Hurst’s men.

Fans that vote for Nolan at www.EFL.com/playeroftheround could win the chance to hand Nolan the prize at Wembley on April 8, should Town see off League Two Yeovil.
