Paul Hurst: Shrewsbury Town beaten by the better team
Shrewsbury Town chief Paul Hurst has no qualms about today's defeat against 'the better side' Plymouth Argyle.
Town lost for just the second time at home in League One this season after they were pegged back by a resurgent Plymouth side.
Carlton Morris' early opener was responded to by goals either side of half-time by the visitors, who climbed to 10th. Craig MacGillivray's penalty save at 1-0 did little to halt Plymouth's momentum.
Hurst was disappointed with his side's display, crediting Argyle's response to falling behind and calling his side second better.
"We're obviously disappointed, but we were beat by the better team, no qualms on that," said Hurst.
"They did very well and reacted to a good start from us. We seemed to stop doing things we did earlier in the game and we were second best.
"It was a fantastic start but we couldn't really build on that.
"I thought we'd perhaps got away with it with the penalty save, which i need to check but I'm pretty sure it wasn't one and if that's the case it needs to be looked at and taken further if it was a blatant dive, as it looked, but you hope situations give you that lift.
"We really struggled to get going."
Hurst was bitterly disappointed with the manner of Argyle's two goals. The first a long punt down field and the second from a corner.
He added: "The first goal is a joke. It couldn't get much worse. It was blatantly obvious what happened.
"The second, I never like conceding set-plays - I'll have to look back at that further, it was a bit of a scruffy one, it's one of those you're not sure where the ball is or if it's anyone's error.
"I wanted us to be a little more direct. I think we're a little bit slow at understanding that we've changed the formation and how to play.
"We've got two very strong boys up front who will work. You stick it down the side of them and try and build a bit of pressure.
"We had a little bit but nowhere near (enough). There was the initial bit where Nathan had the header saved, that was probably as close as we got.
"Lenny had one that you're hoping might take a bobble or a ricochet but it went in the keeper's hands.
"They saw the game out without too many scares."
