Shrewsbury face Oldham or Leicester City's under-21s in Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final
Shrewsbury have been handed a home tie against Oldham or Leicester City's under-21s in the quarter-final of the Checkatrade Trophy.
Boss Paul Hurst got his wish of a home tie as Town avoided some lengthy away trips at the likes of Yeovil, Lincoln or Fleetwood.
Shrews secured a 1-0 victory over Richie Wellens' Oldham at Montgomery Waters Meadow on New Year's Day.
The Latics face Leicester's youngsters in their rescheduled tie at Boundary Park next Wednesday, January 17 to determine Town's last eight visitors.
Hurst said: “It’s always good to be drawn at home so we have to be happy with the draw.
“The game will be a tough test whichever side gets through and both teams will offer a different type of challenge.
“It is another game to play this month and the fixtures are starting to build up but hopefully the supporters can see we are getting closer to the final and will come out for the game.”
Shrewsbury enjoyed a memorable 1-0 win at Leciester in the second round of the EFL Cup in 2014 courtesy of Andy Mangan's goal.
Hurst's men saw off Blackpool on penalties last night after previously downing Port Vale in the knockout stages.
