Paul Hurst hoping for another Shrewsbury Town home draw

Paul Hurst has his fingers tightly crossed for another home draw as Shrewsbury remained on the Wembley trail with a penalty shootout success.

League One rivals Blackpool were dismissed from the Checkatrade Trophy as Town sealed a 4-2 spot-kick win after 90 goalless minutes at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Shrewsbury are two rounds from a Wembley final in March having qualified for the quarter-final draw - which could potential throw a lengthy away trip.

Trips to the likes of Yeovil, Lincoln or Fleetwood could be handed to Hurst's men for the next stage.

"We will look forward to the draw," said Hurst. "It's an open draw with potentially some long travels. You hope for that home tie.

"It certainly does get more interesting, it was a slightly different atmosphere to Sunday. If we do get a home tie, while I don't expect it to be a West Ham attendance, I'd like to see a few more members of the public in."

Hurst added: "We played a different shape (4-4-2 diamond). We went through it on Tuesday, obviously you can only do so much with a day's preparation.

"But we thought it was the best way to go rather than ask someone to do a job that might not suit them.

"The biggest thing for me was to get more minutes in the legs. It showed that one or two haven't played for a while and was feeling the pace a little bit."

Hurst named goalkeeper Dean Henderson between the sticks for the last 16 tie, the first time the Manchester United loanee has been in the Checkatrade Trophy starting XI this season.

Henderson, who saved one spot-kick while another hit the bar, was granted permission to play against West Ham in the FA Cup last weekend, leaving Craig MacGillivray on the bench on both occasions.

"Realistically he's the first-choice keeper." Hurst added.

"While I've been happy with what Craig has done, people wanted to see Dean in goal.

"It's part and parcel with being a footballer.

"I named the outfield team (on Tuesday) but didn't name the keeper and named the team (before kick-off)

"I'm sure again he'd liked to have played but we can talk about that tomorrow if it's an issue.

"As far as I'm concerned it's part of my job. Sometimes it's good sometimes there are things that you have to deal with and this is one of them."
