Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst has registered interest with West Bromwich Albion about bringing Tyler Roberts back on loan.

The attacking starlet shone in a loan spell at Shrewsbury in the second half of last season, playing a key part in helping the club remain in League One.

The 18-year-old is currently on loan at League One rivals Walsall until the end of January - while his Albion contract is up at the end of the season.

Hurst said: "He's the type of player I have on my radar, certainly. Tyler did extremely well for us last season.

"I think his loan is not up until the end of January. As much as I like him I'm not sure it's going to be a deal that can take place.

"We fully appreciate Tyler's qualities and ability. The situation has perhaps changed for him there. It's a new manager and I'm sure he'll want to have a look at Tyler first-hand.

"I'm sure something could happen further down the line but as I've mentioned in the past I'm not going to rule us out doing a deal on the final day, that would be foolish.

"I've had a conversation, yes."

The Welsh youth international netted four times in 12 games in a successful Town spell last season. He has bagged five goals for mid-table Walsall this term.

A host of clubs, including French side Marseille, are said to be keen in securing his long-term future beyond next summer.
