Paul Hurst could tinker with Shrewsbury Town starting XI
Paul Hurst insists his squad is desperate to impress if changes are made for tonight’s trip to Doncaster Rovers.
Town have used a largely unchanged XI for much of their unbeaten League One run but, with the fixture list beginning to pile up, Hurst has hinted changes could be made.
A handful of players struggled with cramp towards the end of Saturday’s high-intensity draw with Blackburn.
The boss said: “We’re considering changing it. We look at the levels (stats) they reached at the weekend and things like that.
“What I do know is I’ve got a group of players behind that team that started that desperately want to play and are a lot stronger than we were last season.”
Omar Beckles, Ebou Adams, Arthur Gnahoua and Lenell John-Lewis have not yet been able to break into Hurst’s winning formula.
“I believe they’re ready to do it because of the work they’ve done after games and through the weeks,” Hurst added.
“Some of them had the game against Walsall (behind closed doors). Others have played parts or the odd game.
“Unfortunately nothing replaces playing 95 minutes but between us and the players we’ve given it the best chance of it not being a massive issue.”
